Red-Haired Girl
A little recap of what happened yesterday. Happily woke up at 9am and lazed around a little at home first before heading to tian's place to chill. Glad I could satisfy his desire of waking up to see his favourite girl beside him..heh he was still asleep when I reached his place and irritated him by brushing his hair and touching his face. He sleeps like a pig..if I was disturbed in my sleep i'd jump awake. haha anyway lazed around with him in the morning before heading to NUS faculty of Dentistry for the manual dexterity test. Went there very relaxed and excited to play with plasticine and wires. But things changed immediately when I got down to work. I started with the wires first which took me a little more than an hour. It is definitely not the wire used for braces or else I don't know how pple's mouth will look and feel like..anyway after that hour my whole left hand was numb and I was so damn tired I had to stop for a little rest before proceding to the 2nd hard task. Maybe the tool they provided was not strong enough or sth but I had experience of bending wires at home using my dad's tools and it was much easier! perhaps cos my dad's tools are bigger. Anyway 2nd task was to carve a 2.3cm by 2.3cm by 2.3cm cube out of a plaster cylinder. Thought that would be quite fun but soon realised that even after soaking the plaster in water for 3 minutes, it was still very hard and a lot of patience is required to carve the cubes using a tiny scapel. I think my dimensions were wrong because some part of the plaster split and came off the sides. 3rd and final task was to use plasticine to reproduce an arcylic tooth. Thought that would be the easiest task as all of us would have so much experience playing with plasticine in Primary school. But oh no..it didn't help that I did not cut my nails short before the test (really didn't think of it). The plsticine provided was rock hard!!wonder which lousy brand it is from..anyway I thought my tooth was badly done because there were cracks due to the stiff plasticine which I did not manage to smoothen out. but haha when we had to submit our 'artwork' I saw some pieces which were even more badly done..out of shape and totally did not look like a tooth. haha
so to conclude..interesting test..and I've learnt that you need strong arms and skill to become a dentist. I would require a lot of training on that. Some of the guys in my group finished an hour before me..meaning they finished when I still had one more task undone. I WAS LIKE "WAAHHHH" why are they so powerful..n their 'artwork' looked very decent to me. so pro.
