lazy to blog

OMGGG The next destination for me: MEXICO!!!
haha ok I'm watching Miss Universe, Mexico and the clips of Mexico reminded me of my Heavenly Mathematics project on the Maya civilization! I wanna see Chichen Itza for myself! Oh my goodness Mexico looks gorgeous with all that old ruins. Haha ok maybe honeymoon destination. =p Oh yes, I also want to go to EspaƱa! Haha, yes destination for ANTM season 8! (which I just finished watching, huge thanks to Li Quan again! hehe I'm so tempted to blog a whole paragraph on ANTM! =p)

Now to the contestants: Miss USA looks like a doll! haha the more I look at her, the more sweeter she looks! And so what if she made a boo boo, I was so amazed by how fast she recovered! It's like, she slipped so quickly and swiftly (must be because her dress is so silky or sth haha), and I held my breadth as I watched her recovered, how the hell did she recover so quickly in high heels! So pro! She was really so smooth in her recovery, the judges ought to have added at least 10 points more! N she should be 2nd runner-up I thought. I didn't really like MIss Korea's answer but her smile's very sweet and wow the way she spoke Korean made the language sound so so nice! Unlike the Korean actresses in Korean dramas, who speak rather fiercely as though they were scolding the other person. I was mesmerised when she started speaking although I don't understand a single thing of course. Our winner, Miss Japan, ehhh...not as pretty as last year's, don't you think? I would say that last year's Miss Japan was as confident as this year's AND she was prettier! Ok she did get into the top 3 if I remembered correctly.

Now Jess is off to watching Grey's 3! (the reason why she's not blogging much) Oh it's so so good though it makes you cry at the end of every episode.

By the way, life is beautiful now. I'm a very happy girl. ;)

Bimbo Talk

To Chiew Mei and Li Quan, my fellow tai-tais-in-training, I think I'm graduating from tai-tai school very soon. Not only am I playing mahjong twice a week now, you ladies will be proud to know that I finally own some pretty lingerie from La Senza! (I remembered you two were shocked when I told you guys one afternoon, while having lunch at Engine Canteen, that I have not stepped into La Senza before...) The damage was more than 100 bucks...and it's only my 1st time to La Senza. Can't help it, they were having 30% sale and I don't know if it would be cheaper in stores or online so I just bought them. Anyway it's about time I change to a more affordable brand of lingerie, Triumph is getting way too expensive. La Senza is a little cheaper and very comfortable too!

My darling boyfriend didn't even attempt to help me save money today, but I really have to thank him so much for shopping with me. Although I may complain that you have very little patience when you shop with me, I know I have to be very thankful that you would actually go shopping with me in the first place. Not all boyfriends are willing to do that, I know, and not every guy would remind their girlfriend to get a new piece so I am very proud of you haha! You have no idea how happy I am today with you, of course also because we had such a good dinner at Dian Xiao Er! I'm definitely bringing my girlfriends from the SISTERHOOD there for dinner on our next gathering. Just don't order the lime and plum juice and everything else should be great. So yes, back to my dearest boyfriend, I am so appreciative of the fact that you came down to Vivocity to shop with me although you were tired after a long day at TTSH. I really shouldn't ask for more, and I am truly thankful for such a wonderful boyfriend who pampers me (...most of the time...hehe), but you know, I am far from being the perfect girlfriend and I tend to forget and complain about you sometimes so pls forgive me! And recently, I have disappointed you yet again, so thanks dear, for being so ever patient with me and giving me another chance to change for the better.

Ok ok back to the tai-tai-in-training talking, I also went for the crazy one-day Isetan sale which I didn't fare too well, only grabbed a pair of heels from Substance because Nine West (with only a miserable 10% off) was way too expensive for a poor, working tai-tai-cum-student, me. And it didn't help that I tried so many pairs of jeans that day, from Buffalo to CK jeans to 7 For All Mankind...but none was perfect, not even those from 7 For All Mankind. And I remembered I was really tired that day - I ended work at 6! - and had a headache on the bus from NUS to Orchard...everyone should know how bad the jam at Orchard Road can get whenever there's the Isetan sale. And goodness I had so little time to shop and my headache worsened as I squeezed through the crowd to get to the goodies. I think I need more training in handling crowds and conquering sales.

Ok this post is getting way too bimbo. I'm off to watch ANTM 7!

WE'RE GOING TO VIETNAM!!! YAYYYYY!!!

So now, we need plane tickets, a good itinerary and book our accommodation etc. Should I backpack or bring a luggage? ;p I do have a spanking new backpack (courtesy of Baorong) waiting to be used.

LATEST UPDATE: We got our plane tickets! Yayyy! Flying with Jetstar on 12th June and coming back on 22nd June. S$145! Cheap cheap! Only problem now is that we need to get plane/train tickets from Hanoi to Saigon. And I don't feel very safe getting the tickets only when we arrive at Saigon.

Anyone out there who's been to Vietnam, please leave all your recommendations on anything and everything! I think I need a lot of help.

BIE gathering @ Hard Rock Cafe [100507]

My very first outing with the bioengineers outside school! Yes my first after-semester outing with them outside school after 2 years in NUS as I missed the BBQ gathering last semester at ECP. SO glad it was a success and only 3 out of the ~15 people we asked couldn't make it. Hope Tryphena is feeling better already.

Presenting the lovely orgnisers for the evening: Chiew Mei, Myself and Li Quan. Yes I was the latest though not THAT late, only 15 mins! Haha, then I found out that my fellow 2 organisers were late too! Yeap as Li Quan said, ladies just need more time to doll up. =)

One end of the long table with Wong Cheng, the ever-smiley Eric, Weilong, Jordan and Zeming, missing Ee Min and Kristy

The other end of the table with Chiew Mei, Li Quan, Vinodh, Sandip and me! with Weiguang holding the camera.

Sandip, me, Weiguang, Chiew and Li Quan!

I love potato skins! (Tian's beside me as I'm arranging the photos, and the photos are making him hungry. I blog, he DOTA.)

Buffalo wings with some sauce called Heavy Metal which was indeed a little too spicy for me but still very nice. Damn a lot of sauce and I got unglam while working though the chicken wings with my manicured hands.

Delicious Nachos! The more the cheese, the better haha. It was my first time at HRC, didn't know the serving portions were so HUGE, Sandip, Chiew, Li Quan, Vinodh and I shared 3 starters and they were full while Vinodh and I felt that we could eat a little more but I was quite sure a main course would be too much. So we gladly ordered desserts. Little did we know that we would be struggling to finish our bread and butter pudding - which was more like peanut butter brownie - too rich + not enough vanilla icecream.

Chiew's and Li Quan's hot fudge brownie sundae. It's HUGE I'm telling you, can serve 3-4 people.

I couldn't resist!

After dinner shots - we took like 4 group photos I think. We're damn photo whore la, ok maybe only the 3 organisers. And yes, we were guilty of turning up almost all black except for Li Quan and Chiew Mei who were in white, I don't know why also, a little boring yes, but at least we dressed up a bit la! Well, I ALMOST wore blue...hmm. Next round the girls shall come in hot pink and red. =p Eric had to leave us early that night for a phone interview with an American company for his NOC. Zai.

Jordan was acting camera-shy so Li Quan ran over to do her magic and Jordan backed away a little initially, as if Li Quan was going to eat him up or what, but in the end he smiled! Li Quan looked very good in her Miss Sixty outfit! Liked the way you did your hair, babe. =) Unlike me who has long hair but is absolutely hopeless in styling it.

Weilong was the other camera-shy guy!

There was supposed to be only 3 people in the photo but the photo whores barged in to be in the photo as Chiew was counting "3...2..."!

Everyone should learn how to use the ZOOM function on the camera, even random passerbys.

Sandip and Weiguang with his very sexy pout!

After dinner, Kristy, Vinodh, Sandip, Jordan, Li Quan, Lenith, Chiew and I headed down to Cafe Iguana for drinks! That's me with my Horny Toad Margarita and I loved it! Hehe it tasted better than Sandip's Boogie Woogie which was stronger. The others had House Margaritas.

After our first round of drinks, we waited for 15 minutes till the clock striked 12 and we ordered our 2nd round, a juge of Mango House Margarita for half the price! Our empty glasses beside the jug to show you guys the size of the jug. The girls and guys were saying that I need to get out of house at night more, I never ever go to happening places like Clarke Quay at night, and like, everyone has been to Brewerkz except for me haha.

I was the only one who drank the margarita with the salt. Very nice what. Oh and at the cafe, I got so super tired and quiet, I thought I was drowsy but nope, still very sober. Just tired I guess.

The guys by the Singapore River. I made them take the photo haha.

The organisers, who wanna thank everyone for a very enjoyable night with good food and great company - signing off!

The guys just don't get it

Girl SMSed boyfriend that she had to give tuition till 11pm tonight because the kid looked like he's going to fail his chemistry mid term tomorrow.
Girl did not get any SMS from boyf.

Girl SMSed close female friend about a chemistry question and that she's still giving tuition at 10pm.
Female friend SMSed back if Girl had dinner, asked if the kid's situation was that bad.
Female friend hoped Girl's boyf was coming to send Girl home.
Girl told female friend that she managed to grab a take-away from MacDonalds and said friend was crazy because tuition's kid's place was rather near home and that it would be a waste of petrol for Girl's boyf to come all the way here to send a tired Girl home.
Female friend said yes it would not a practical thing to do but deep down, she knew girls would secretly hope for their boyfriends to do such things for them.

See why some girls become lesbians? Boyfriends have nothing to say to their girlfriends, while female friends would show much more concern and even know exactly what each other secretly wishes for.

Amazing. And Sad.

Maybe it's just one guy.

But Girl had gotten used to it. And Girl is still crazily in love with her boyf.

Well well, I came home to more than 10 literature readings in my mailbox. Goodness, looks like I'll be very occupied for the next few days although I can't start on any work in the labs because I have yet to attend the training course.

Terrible first day at IMRE because we wasted more than 5 hours there WAITING for our very busy supervisor. I had the computer but I was so bored of surfing the internet, and it was too uncomfortable for me to take a nap. Finally, we had a less than 30mins meet-up with our mentor but we got to discuss the all important issue - the project I'm undertaking at IMRE for the next 12 weeks. The readings have to be done before Cynthia (this other yr 3 bioengin girl assigned to my mentor) and I can make our choices between the 2 projects he offered. I'm quite glad that our mentor seems like a flexible person, hope he's helpful too.

Sooo glad I got to meet Tian for an hour before I met up with the girls for dinner. Refused to let go of Tian when we had to part, haha, so silly. And I had a fantastic time with the girls over dinner at New York New York, my first time there. Roasted chicken - no good. Carbonara - thumbs up. Smoked salmon salad, calamari, mushrooms - thumbs up too! As usual, we stayed till the restaurant closed, and later shifted to Starbucks till we were chased away because they had to close too. It was only 12+!!!

Can't wait to do this again, girls, lets have dinner every week! Haha we'll never run out of things to talk about...just that we'll be missing some of us like Baoxin who's leaving for US for a bloody long time...only coming back in August!!! It's work-and-travel, but still! That's even longer than my internship! And Jamie's touring Korea then sun-tanning in Bintan. And when she's back, Baorong will be trotting down Vietnam, and the next month, it'll be Michelle's turn to visit Vietnam. Happening!!!

Wonder when we'll have another stay-over...so that we can talk and talk through the night.

I'm lovin' it

Internship at IMRE starts tomorrow. Rather excited to see what I can do at IMRE for the next 12 weeks. Hope I get to learn a whole lot from there.

It's been a really happy past week, especially the weekend dedicated to tuition and Tian. Ohter than 2 nights of boardgames and poker till 3-4am, and quite a bit of shopping done earlier in the week, last day of the week was spent lazing at home with Tian after tuition. Lying in his arms in front of the tv is the best thing in the world. If only all my weekends can be like this. We haven't spent such quality time together in quite a while.

Lonely.

I can go shopping, or go for a jog, or watch Music & Lyrics with my sister downstairs, but I'm not really in the mood. She started while I was still in bed anyway.

Tian's busy in hospital these weeks talking to patients, attending lectures and tutorials, learning physical examination...

Everyday I'd try to meet him after his work, just one hour with him is good enough, better than none.

He cannot talk to me on the phone or sms me in the day, from 8am to 5pm, because his day is so packed and today, he only had half an hour for lunch. So he can't talk to me during lunch.

Every end of the day, I'd make him tell me everything that he did in hospital for that day. Tian doesn't say much, he's too tired to talk. So I'd keep asking him questions, and he'd reply me in a short sentence.

I'm so persistent and annoying I bet, but I usually only manage to squeeze out a short summary from him.

I'm supposed to be doing all this, I may not be in the same hospital as him, but maybe running around in another hospital.

It's been 2 years, but I still believe so. I only wished for the passion to go away, but it didn't at all.

The more I study with Tian, the more I attend his lectures, the more I learn about what he does in hospital everyday...the more miserable I feel because I can't do any of this. None. Not even close.

You may say that 2 years ago at 19, I wouldn't know how much I want something and if that something is what I really want, whether it is where my passion lies.

And so now I tell you, it's been 2 years and nothing has changed. My passion for it is so strong, I am so damn sure I really want it but so what, god rather give others the chance, but not me.

I want to be busy, I don't want to sit at home blogging in front of the computer, all because I have no one to talk to about this. I love being busy because only then will I have lesser time to think about my miserable life.

I hate it when I start thinking too much. I hate it even more when I cry.

These few days Tian's doing a lot of history-taking on their own. Do you think I can grab a labcoat, buy a stethoscope and follow them on their rounds?

I would die to do that.

But of course I can't, my matric card doesn't say _____________________. It says Bioengineering.

Tian must be so sick of me talking to him about this. That's why I can't talk to him, so I blog. He tells me to get over it already and find out what kind of jobs I can do in the future with my degree.

Is there a single soul who really knows how I feel, or what I've been going through mentally and emotionally for the past 2 years?

And do you have any idea how hard it is to get into GMS?

But somehow I know I'll never give up.

wongcheng zeming jordan weilong yiren eric vinodh sandip weiguang,

we're arranging an outing to celebrate having survived 2 years of and still not quitting the crap bioengineering course of nus! (ok chiew wrote that, but she's not shy to say she's no ambassador of nusbie so too bad for them.)

so yes, we're having a nice (not so) little outing involving dinner, desserts and just plain ole' sitting-around-doing-nothing-ness next thursday, 10th may 2007.

for now, dinner is planned to be held at hard rock cafe (singapore) and we will meet at the entrance at 715pm sharp (yes, even chiew will be on time, promise). after which we will haul our full tummies to where desserts and chatting beckons.

SEE YOU GEEKS! (:
