The people who make tutorials a little more interesting...and lectures a little less sleep-inducing...

So the Bioengineers met up again after a month for Eric's farewell dinner at California Pizza Kitchen on Monday night. We got this package thing for 10 which included 5 pizzas, 3 appetizers/salads and 3 desserts. Appetizers were not enough because the serving was quite small but the 5 pizzas were good and Eric and I had fun choosing based on the descriptions on the menu and I ended up ordering 2 pizzas which looked more like salads to everyone else. Well, the bacon/chicken was a little small and covered by all the greens, and I named the pizzas Garden 1 and Garden 2. One of them turned out to be fantastic by the way, totally love the sweet twist to the taste of a usual pizza while the other Garden pizza (I think it was The Greek) had cucumber and tomato cubes as toppings, a combo that Yiren and I were not really into.

Yiren, Chiew Mei and Eric, who gave up all his branded specs for Lasik. But he was very smart, he changed them into shades so that his expensive frames will not go to waste! Haha Chiew and Li Quan had no hope of "koping" any of them.



Dinner was wonderful with a lot of gossipping about people who were absent that day, and also many updates on our lives now, like myself who's going to Canada for SEP and Jordan's going to Holland. Not sure if we succeeded in tempting Li Quan and Chiew to apply to Holland for SEP since almost all of us will be somewhere far away in Sem 2. Sadly, I'll be rather alone in Vancouver, though Eric is nearby in Pennsylvania, but Ee min will have Kristy with her in Sweden, Shiyan will be somewhere nearby in Germany and Jordan in Holland. Jealous! But nvm, I shall save Europe for honeymoon while I go crazy shopping in Canada and US next year.

We, or rather I, sort of bought an NUS mug for Eric (not the 100th anniversary mug that ALL of us got from matric fair), after Chiew told me to get something from NUS for Eric to remember NUS, sth like that. I never thought it meant a file or sth. Eric's going to USA for NOC (NUS Overseas College), meaning he'll be working in an American firm in the day and only taking lessons at night. I just realised a mug is damn useful la! He'll need a mug for drinks in his hostel or apartment, or he can use the mug at his workplace for coffee, tea etc. Hello guys, it's a good gift ok.. =p



Lastly, the 3 tai-tai wannabes, who're already planning for their 2nd tai-tai high tea session. Read good reviews about high tea at Tiffin Room, Raffles Hotel but we need to find some sort of discount or sth haha! (I totally fail as a tai-tai as usual.)

I WANT TO GO FOR THE GWEN STEFANI CONCERT!


Somebody pls tell me if it's a crazy thing to do if not I'm really considering getting the Cat 2 tickets! I'm not even a crazy Gwen Stefani fan and I won't be making banners and stuff but I really think she sings well and I love her songs! Anyway I do have quite a bit of money to spend from all that tuition I've been giving in the past 2 months. To prepare for the concert, I'll even go print out the lyrics to her song and practise all day! Yes I'll make Tian sing with me too, don't care. He doesn't want to go but finally gave in for once today when I (think) I've been mentioning about the concert at least once everyday. Anyway I went to the Singapore Indoor Stadium to watch WWF (I don't remember buying the most expensive ticket because I couldn't see The Rock up close) with him once so it's his turn to return the favour haha! I think I'm nuts. But I think Gwen Stefani's worth it. If Spice Girls make a comeback and have a concert in Singapore, I'll definitely go too haha. Make me miss my Spice Girls days with Baorong and Vanessa back in primary school.

I think Gwen Stefani looks damn good, in every hairstyle and hair colour. She's just damn hot and looks so good in all the MTVs. Guess my favourite song now. Tian will score full marks for this. =) I WANT TO GO!!!

Celene's "Kiss by a Rose" 21st Birthday party!

A very belated post indeed. Last week was a little mad with a lot of meet-ups with different groups of people, there was Roy's birthday dinner, Tian's sister's birthday dinner, Die Hard 4.0 + Transformers, JC class gathering and also a lot of time spent in front of my favourite iBook working on my VIP aka vacation internship progamme report which I finally submitted on Sunday night. Also, I submitted my SEP aka student exchange programme application a little past 12 midnight this morning, with KTH, Stockholm being my first choice so PLS ACCEPT ME!!! Living in Sweden for 6 months in winter would be a little mad due to the cost and cold, plus I'll be away from Tian for the longest time ever but I'm sure the experience would be pretty amazing. Plus I'm mapping some of my gross-est core modules over, things like Biomedical Electronics & Systems, I can do it at KTH on pass/fail basis so that's a life-saver! That module is almost confirm a B or lower and I would not want to take it to drag my CAP even lower. So yes, the feeling of finishing my report and having SEP settled for now is shiok. I feel like I'm free finally and I'm actually reading a book now!

It was a gorgeous and classy affair at Celene's home 2 saturday nights ago, where she celebrated her sweet 21st with her loving family, many of her medical friends, her closest St Nicks girlfriends and RJ friends. There was delicious food from Marmalade Group, great vocals by Ngak and partner (omg I'm never been to Timbre and it was my first time listening to Ngak sing, honestly, he's sounds so good la, way better than the Indochine singer, it's like you can just watch him sing all night and develop a major crush on him. He's cute too. =p), and there's the beautiful custom-made three-tiered chocolate cake from Canele, which is tastefully decorated with red roses and petals. The chocolate was really rich and I spotted some guys helping themselves to more than one serving of the cake! Celene's house was also decorated with pink and silver balloons all over, held down by pretty purple balloon weights. It was a beautiful night with great company.







Just one of Celene's birthday present from a group of medical guys. No, not from Jerry, Wenkien, Zhenjin and Tian. Definitely not haha. The book reads "Positions of The Day" and the guys were just fascinated with the book, checking out the positions of their birthdays. 2nd part of the present was a singing dick. YES. It doesn't look gross though, more like comical because it has eyes and wore a black cap and red vest. And it is impossible to make out what it is actually singing. The girls had much fun teasing one another with the toy.

I didn't know she took such a cute shot of the bunny! Still unnamed that night, this was another of Cel's present. A female bunny to accompany Cel's Frankie, a male bunny from Daryl but obviously it's a big rabbit now. I remembered we thought of the name Franchesca but it was a little too long for a pet bunny. It's a fur ball! Super adorable! Note Celene's french manicure...if only guys appreciate the beauty of manicured nails as much as I do. =p







Celene's family. I almost teared when Celene thanked her mum. It was very touching, and I'm anvious I guess. Between me and my mum, it's like..unspoken love. I never told her I love her, but show in indirect ways such as buying her clothes, bags and treating her to good food at fancy restaurants. I just can't say it to her, I don't know why.


Daryl, who drove Celene to tears when he specially sang a song for her, in front of all her friends and family. And I saw the way he looked at her when he was singing to her. I really don't know how to describe it. I think the word is Love.

Omg I just finished Ugly Betty Season 1 on www.tudou.com (Jamie, stop watching it on Channel 5, too slow) and it was SO good. I totally love the show! Omg I don't even know if there's going to be a 2nd season! I totally didn't expect the ending, I want to know what will happen to Daniel and Alexis, and what about Amanda being Fey's daughter! Now that I think about it, there should be a Season 2! Anyone knows if it's showing in US already?? But the ending was damn sad la, almost cried again, with that song in the background and Hilda crying so badly...man why can't they just let her be hapily married. It's damn sad la. Oh ya, the part where they copied Prison Break, Fail. Totally unnecessary. They should have came up with something better.

Warning: Nerd Talk

Ok this is a breakthrough. A glimpse of us interning at IMRE...ya I know you're saying "huh what's that". I didn't even know such a research institute exists until I'm posted there. It's A*Star's Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, located behind the NUS Business School. I bet Tian still doesn't know what IMRE stands for, although he has driven to IMRE so many times.

So enjoy my nerdiest photo ever, taken by Jayce's very expensive Nokia N95, worth a few thousands bucks, am I right? It's like 5.0 megapixels if I'm not wrong. It came absolutely FREE with additional cash on top of it, because Jayce and Nita won the Nokia N95 Challenge! Damn cool. I should have taken part for fun.


Us in the lab. This is the lab that we work in every single day. Cynthia was rushing to prepare NMR samples in the fume hood so we had to surround her for the photo. Cynthia's in Yr 3 Bioengin, myself and Ee Min in Yr 2 Bioengin, Betty, a soon-to-be Chemical Engin freshie, and there's Jayce, A*Star Material Science & Engin overseas scholar. Why do I wear specs at work? It is a safety regulation and contact lenses are deemed unsafe in laboratories. (We had to attend a 2-day Environmental, Health and Safety Training course before we can work in the labs.) I think I can actually earn demerit points if I get caught wearing contact lenses in the lab. Of course, being the usual rebellious me (typical RGS girl with a low belt to a typical RJC girl with zng uniform), I wear contact lenses sometimes if I'm going out after work, and see, I didn't even tie up my unruly hair in the lab - it's a regulation too.


We love our safety goggles. =p Ok, as safe as we feel when we're wearing them, it can be quite a nuisance when it keeps sliding down my nose. Looking at the photo, Ee Min officially has the nicest-looking pair of safety goggles. At least you can see her eyes! I can't even see mine! My goggles is the least safe pair, as in, lowest quality, because it is made by Uvex. Anyway I really can't be bothered haha. Cynthia's blue gloves are nitrile gloves and my beige ones are latex gloves. Jayce ended his internship at IMRE about a week ago and Betty's leaving in 2 weeks' time. Cynthia and I are going to be so lonely in the lab la. What makes working in a quiet chemistry lab pleasant is the people in the lab. Thank goodness for a really calm, patient and kind supervisor too!
