This is a very expensive t-shirt but it's so ME!!! haha...not that I'm proud of being Miss Late. So since I will not splurge on this shirt, I shall continue to TRY my very best to be on time...for everything. That's a very difficult task for a girl who loves/needs a lot of sleep. =p

Weekend in Malaysia







Will write about my cousin's wedding when time permits, only some photos for now. These few weeks are crazy and I'm rushing to catch up with the endless notes to read and tutorials to complete while dance is taking up most of the time for now. And tonight, Cell Biology webcast is priority, not blogging haha. Ciaoz~

Wedding in Msia

I'm in Malaysia right now for my cousin's wedding. =) It's been really fun though tiring (slept only at 1am and woke up at 5.30am this morning to go see the bride dress up...I'm feeling so guilty because I don't even wake up on time for school or trainings...arghh very ashamed.) Taking a short rest back at my relatives' place right now before we head down for the wedding dinner. It's like an hour's ride to some kampong place. Perhaps only there can you accommodate 60 tables. Attending weddings are so fun...not only do I get closer to my Malaysian relatives, I start to fantasize about my own wedding too hahaha. I told Tian and Jacinta too about my 9 bridesmaids fantasy..my 7 jie3 meis4 and my 2 sisters. Then of course, the guy must have 9 bestmen too haha. Ok enough for now..off to take a nap, bathe and leave in a few hours' time.

Poor

I never knew how painful it'll be to lose 456 points for a module. I usually only spend 1 point for modules. But this semester is screwed up and I made a huge mistake in my planning hence I was really forced to take this module (which I'm not that interested in) for a very expensive 456 points. My general account is so broke now...but I've learnt a painful lesson. In future semesters, I must always bid in Round 2A, even if I'm not sure I want the module, even if it is a back-up module. I can always drop the module later, 1 point won't hurt. But never try bidding in Round 3. Things get so expensive. Sighh. Even shopping with real cash doesn't feel so painful. Heavenly Mathematics & Cultural Astronomy...firstly the module has 2 lectures instead of one, secondly there is a project and it sucks because if you get lousy group members, you're screwed - and I'm taking the module Alone. Thirdly, the lectures are on tues and fridays - tuesday is my 'free' day, and not only that, they are 8-10am lectures. How wonderful. Ahhhhhhhhhh. I can't even get a lift from Baorong because they don't start so early... ... I need a car. Actually a private cab is the best.

For the next few semesters, I've set my eyes on Einstein's Universe & Quantum Weirdness, GEM2900, Drugs and Society, Forensic Science and Introduction to Psychology. Whichever fits into my timetable next semester, I'll whack. I must use these modules to pull my CAP up. Among them, perhaps the stats module and quantum one are the most boring. =p

How come I don't feel hungry after dance? It's 9pm already and I'm feeling perfectly fine in front of my mac instead of having my dinner. I'm still trying to get over losing 456 points. It's going to be an A module. Even better, A+. =p

Because I'm loved

Pardon my previous post. Today was a perfect day although I cabbed to school for the first lecture of the semester (but it was because I refused to wake up in the morning, and also took my own sweet time to apply eyeliner to look a little prettier cos today's a special day - ya ok vain I never denied the fact haha =p) so ya, wasted 5 bucks there. Maths lecture was boring as usual, I've never seen a lecture theatre that crowded, possibly because you have mech engin year 2s + bioengin year 2s and somehow the year 3s are there too..I don't know why. But miraculously, there was this single aisle seat right in front of me when I entered the lecture theatre (a little late) so it was cool and Jordan and Tien Hui happened to be sitting right in front of me so it was really nice seeing familiar faces. And yes, soon I got to meet more familiar faces from mechengin (they're all guys somehow..my og mates) and when I finally saw the very familiar bioengin group, there was this very nostalgic feeling..we're not that close but somehow I felt very happy to see everyone again. I guess it's because we're such a small group and they were the ones who went through all the shitty bioengin modules with me, the only ones whom I can discuss school work with, and yes, basically the only group of people who knows what the hell I'm talking about when it's related to what I do in bioengin. So yes, although I dreaded starting sch in my previous post, the feeling in school today, for that short moment, was warm and relieved, relieved to know that my bioengin friends will be there with me to pull through yet another semester in NUS. Oh and WC even surprised Jordan and I with a belated Christmas gift each! It was really sweet of him and I managed to get a gift for him in the afternoon, to reciprocate his kind gesture. How nice of him =) and yes, thank god Tian helped me choose a nice pair of slippers from Rip Curl, I had a hard time because all the nicer designs and colours were out of size 11! How irritating. Oh ya, did I mention that I actually complained about the maths lecturer ending lecture at 11.35am? I don't know what's wrong with me, in the mugger mood maybe.

Anyway for the first time in 7 years, Tian and I had a very nice anniversary lunch instead of the usual anniversary dinner, because I decided to go for the first Chingay dance practice (how committed haha). After my lecture and his CA, we headed down to Raffles City for lunch and a little shopping. I made him drive all the way there because I wanted him to see the Onitsuka Tiger sneakers, hoping that he will finally find a pair of sneakers that he likes very much. But no such luck today. Maybe he didn't have the patience to try them on because he was hungry. Since we were there, I decided that today was a good opportinuty to try the food at Prego.


My dearest darling boyfriend in his green Lacoste (inspired from the movie Hitch). I could spot him so easily from afar by his bright-coloured shirt. Was supposed to wear my Lacoste too (think couple attire though my shirt is pink-peach in colour) but I was rebellious and decided on my simple, reliable white Zara basic.


We had beef carpaccio for appetizer, which happened to be more expensive than our main courses. I must say that the portion is extremely huge, usually Tian and I would order one appetizer each because we want to try more dishes. Like at Prego, we considered their fried calamari and some veal dish but we were feeling thrifty. =) I ought to stop comparing similar dishes from different restaurants because the same meat can prepared and seasoned differently by different chefs so it's really not fair for me to compare! Like today, at first I thought to myself, I think the beef carpaccio @ Il Lido is nicer, but then I realised I'm being bias so I should stop comparing and appreciate the way the dish is prepared differently here at Prego.


Me with my main course, I forgot the pasta's name, but it's basically the ribbon-shaped pasta with smoked salmon, asparagus and some cream sauce which I found just right (not too thick) for my liking, unlike Tian's linguine carbonara (see below). But Tian liked his pasta very much.



Finally, dessert time! I liked the tiramisu at Prego! (Menotti's small little one cannot make it. =p) Tian thought that there was too much cheese/cream part and too little of the cake part but I loved it very much. The creamy cheese part of the dessert was so good I wouldn't mind more! Wah so yummy, one day I shall go back to Prego specially for the tiramisu.

I shall save you the details of the rest of our day. Summary: We spent a little more time together walking around Raffles City and he helped me pick a pair of slippers for WC. Had to rush back to school for Material Science and Engineering lecture from 4-6pm, after which I rushed down to People's Association @ Kallang with a few Blast! people for our first dance practice for Chingay 2007. Haha I have so much to say about today's dance practice because it totally rocked and I enjoyed the session so much but I shall save that for another day. Went to meet Tian again at Kelven's condo. He was there for a BBQ gathering with the med people, celebrating the end of their CA? =) It's so near my place, finally, haha. I was enjoying myself there, listening to the guys talk and laugh about everything from bacteriology CA questions to sec sch, to RJ, then to this weird hand specialist. We only left at 12am, afterwhich Tian and I had a very nice time chatting in his car below my block till 1 plus, before we finally bear to part because Tian has a 9am-5pm day tomorrow. That is totally sad yes haha. And the only reason why I'm still up blogging at 3.20am is because I only have a 4-6pm lecture tomorrow! How screwed up can my timetable get, right? I tell you, if they have webcast for Cell Biology, NOBODY will turn up for lectures. Like hello, go to school just for 2 hrs! Total waste of travelling time.

So yes, our special day went exceptionally well, and because I could not spend the whole day with him, I especially treasured our time together today. God knows how many times I've told you "I love you" today. I don't know why, I just felt the urge and need to tell you over and over again. I have so much more to say to you but I'll save it for the card.

Yay. I know 2007 is going to be great. Because I'm loved. =)

Learn to believe

Can't believe it. This is it. The start of 4 months of hell. Time to start mugging like nobody's business. I'm going to be so focussed this semester and study so hard. If I'm meant to get those shitty results again after yet another round of hard work, then I surrender. But for now, I'm going to have faith again and give myself another chance, and hope for the best. I know I'm never meant to get such grades. Hopefully history will never repeat itself again.

I don't mean to sound so bitter and down. But I'm struggling and fighting...and not many people seem to understand my misery. Perhaps only Tian. I don't know.

Happy 7th anniversary, darling. I'm looking forward to a very sweet and memorable 2007 with you...and many more years to come. I love you so much.

Hellooo 2007 =)

So I spent the first day of 2007 at home. Sleeping a lot, eating, reading, chilling in front of the TV with So You Think You Can Dance, remembering to take my cough mixture every 6 hrs + the other pills..yea not too exciting, but I guess after being out every single day, we all sometimes crave for a day to relax at home, and sleeping is what I do best, so time really flies when I'm at home haha.

Anyway here are some snapshots from the last few days of 2006..

Betty's Forever Young 21st Birthday Bash!


My 3 dearest lovely ladies Mich, Betty & Baorong. Well Betty wanted a "Calling all angels" theme but I guess the last minute notice failed and no one turned up looking even close to an angel. Nonetheless, Baorong and I made the effort to buy the furry tiaras from ToysRUs to look a little more angelic! I decided Betty should be wearing the tiara instead of myself since it's her big day!


Eh Mich blocked me =p but yes, we love you Betty! Thank you for a great evening, I thought it was more of a party for us than YOUR party, so thanks for all the goodies babe. =)

Jega, Mich and Huiping leaving the party. We got those green cups and 3 green candles as door gifts. Betty really shouldn't have spent so much..we really appreciate her sincere gestures. Huiping joined us late for the party because she had an important church meeting before that, but though it was really late, like past 9, she still made the effort to come down to Jurong all the way from Paya Lebar to spend this special day with Betty.


The purple Guess bag that screams BETTY! I'm still feeling so proud we got her this beautiful bag which is so her and also fufil her needs because Betty wanted a big bag which she can bring to school, hence "must be able to fit A4 size paper into the bag". haha yayy she loves the bag! Jamie, Mich and I spent the whole day shopping for the perfect present for her, before Jamie has to fly off to HongKong again? the next morning at 8am. Yeap she flew off on Betty's birthday itself hence she couldn't celebrate with us. Anyway Jamie and Mich, we need to meet up real soon again to shop for Ness' present! Yayy another birthday party!


Our New Year's eve dinner @ Whitebait and Kale

It was my first time to the restaurant and I was very impressed with the decor! The decorations for the New Year were so pretty, with blue and silver balloons hanging from each seat, and on the tables were little stars, pretty gold and blue glittery party hats, party poppers, clappers and more. So cute. The restaurant had outdoor dining too and I thought the concept was simple and chic, matching the whole whitewashed look of Camden Medical Centre.

I ordered their special New Year's eve menu and Tian went ala carte. Our appetizers, the deep-fried whitebait which I didn't appreciate as much as Tian, and the lobster salad.


This was part of the set menu, the red pepper soup which was served after the lobster salad. It's quite good.


Tian's main course, medium rare grilled tenderloin with mashed potato, which was much more delicious than my main course..below.


Lamb rumps. So I had lamb backside while Tian had such a juicy tenderloin. Hehe but Tian always takes care of me and offered to share his tenderloin with me while he helped me finish up the lamb. Actually the lamb was quite good, not tough at all and the sauce which accompanied the lamb was very nice so I got through that part easily, but it was the veg and the rice-like thingy which I had difficulty finishing up. It didn't add flavour to the meat and it was quite painful trying to eat up the rice-thingy. So yes, I have to say that the food at Whitebait and Kale fell low of my expectations.


This is dessert, it's honey with the white cream-like thingy which tasted like something in between cheese and yogurt. I forgot what it's called, and the tart has orange paste in it. The honey part was super sweet, as in sugar sweet and eating it with the fruits and also the orange tart was very yummy. I'm into sweet stuff anyway.


Leaving the restaurant..by this time the restaurant was crowded with a huge group of foreigners and perhaps only 2 small groups of locals.


With our party hats! Off for a relaxing and slow night, away from the crowd. We felt too lazy to join Mich and Jega for cards and games.


So..we ushered in the new year with Nicky! In front of the big TV on Tian's very comfy couch, watching Countdown at Vivocity, which was ermm..not very interesting and too lame. Jade Seah looked good but she can't host, and she looked so awkward and unnatural beside Daniel Ong who's very good at his job. I bet the countdown at Siloso Beach was way better, and hmm perhaps we should have checked out the Marine Parade countdown. I watched it on the news today and it looked quite nice to have a picnic with wine and good food by the Waterfront and there were fireworks too. The "party" in Orchard looked crazy, I didn't remember it to be that havoc and unruly a few years ago, during my secondary school days when we'd countdown in town with the crowd, remember girls? haha I think we only did that for 2 years, after which Tian and I grew out of the partying.
