Mid Autumn Festival

After school today (TGIF!), it was off to Tian's place for a short nap before we head down to his grandparents' house for zhong1 qiu1 jie2 celebrations.

This was my darling boyfriend at the "lantern station", making sure the whole place is nicely decorated with lanterns, of course with the help of other kids.

We hung the lanterns everywhere, on the plants and gate too. Eh, my sony ericsson camera phone is lousy. The pictures are baddd, but the phone is cheap and good in other areas.

This was my first time having dinner at Tian's grandparents' place, also my first time joining them in their annual mid autumn festival celebration. We had a very sumptuous dinner, with duck, chicken, huge mushrooms, very fresh prawns, roast pork, kick-ass big fish and veggie. Then we adjourned to the front porch to shang yue with mooncakes, pomelo, peanuts, watermelon, some round brownish fruit whose name I don't know, also huge rambutans supposedly from India or sth like tt. They also prepared la3 la1 - the shellfish, I forgot to ask the adults what was the special meaning to eat la3 la1 on this day. But they cooked A LOT of shellfish, 2 towering trays of shellfish ok. I didn't touch it, because it was black in colour and I didn't know how to suck the lala out from the shell (usually dig it out with fork).

Offerings were made, I don't know to which god though. And it was the first time I see Tian and family praying with the joss stick and I realised I've so much to learn about their religion. And the adults were asking if I can speak Cantonese, again. They always forget that I can't, and that I can't even speak my dad's dialet. So at Tian's family gatherings, I'll usually not know what the adults are talking about and Tian will automatically translate to me when relevant, with his limited vocabulary haha.

Leaving his grandparents' house..located just a short walk down from Tian's place. Oh ya I think I have the cutest boyfriend. Well it was my first time to his grandparents' place right, so I saw many more photos of Tian when he was a little boy with his signature hairstyle, like his hair was cut using a bowl. Anyway my darling boyfriend was so much more smiley when he was little, and his smiles were either the cheeky kind or the "I know I'm cute" kind. Basically he looked super cute when he grinned or laughed in photos, with the cute "bowl" haircut and big eyes. Haiz my boyfriend WAS so handsome. What HAPPened to you?!! Haha..I'm kidding.

Time to sleep and recharge for a long mugging day tomorrow! I love the weekends.
