The night my dearest boyfriend came to watch! Yayyy!
I was definitely better tonight, much more calm than the night before (Mich commented that I looked nervous when I came on stage for my first item).
Some backstage shots before it's our turn to get up there to shake some ass..
Me in my 'other women' costume with senior Valerie! We all call her Val, she's a super friendly and sweet senior, probably the tallest girl in Blast! Really super tall. She joined many modelling pagents too, with that model height, body and looks. I always tease her when she comes for practice in her specs and no make-up. Val's dressed as a prostitute for Patrick's item, Red Light District. So hottt, if only I was in that item! Everyone said Red Light District was one of the best dance items in the whole concert.
Me with Idil! Dance Captain for NUS Dance Blast for this year, and Choreographer for Men's Affair, my 2nd item for the concert. He's my partner for the dance too, together with dearest Glady in the background who's the 'girlfriend'. Get the story? Glady's acting as the girlfriend of Idil, while I'm supposed to be the 'other woman'! So basically I'm supposed to seduce Idil (who's not supposed to give in to LUST) and then I got into a fight with Glady! That's what the dance item is about haha. Idil's one of the best choreographer, senior and teacher to me, I've learnt many dances from him for various performances and he never fails to be so ever patient and helpful towards all the dancers under him and he's really very kind, and weirdly crazy at times. It was an honour and pleasure to be able to learn from him again for Dance Reflections 2006. I definitely look forward to more opportunities to learn more funky dances from him!
The Medicine girls Lijia and Youming! Youming's the lucky girl who got to learn from 'uncle' Jacky and performed in the dance inspired by Tokyo drift! How cool! And once again many thanks to Lijia, who spent the past one week busy running up and down in the theatre, diligently answering Peter's (Stage Manager) orders and she never once complained you know!! (while many others bitched about ahem behind his back.) So yes, Lijia was really a dear and this concert would not have been successful without her managing the lightings and music backstage! While the dancers report to Peter at 3pm/4pm, Lijia had to be at the theatre at 12pm/1pm maybe..yea.
After the performance..I rushed out after the debrief to look for my dearest!
My beautiful huge purple bouquet of flowers! It is absolutely gorgeous, and I cannot stop admiring it everytime I settle down on my table to study. More pictures of the bouquet coming up, it has been a week and some lilies are dying but I'm still so excited because new lilies are blooming! Just today, 2 lilies bloomed! I admire them everyday before I leave home for school and everytime I come home. And I can't resist but took so many pictures of the flowers from different angles, capturing the different flowers in the bouquet, and also captured the blooming of the lilies. There are more than 8 lilies now, started off with only 3 lilies. Yes the bouquet is facing a major problem of overcrowding but I refused to remove the paper. Eventually I want to preserve my bouquet la. Anyway thank you darling, you know your girlfriend is a flower-lover, as well as a Tian-lover of course. =p
My supporters! Haha the cheer team who didn't cheer, there's Tian, Yanli, Jerry, Yanrong, Roy, William, Shirley, Janyce, Michelle, Vivian and Chong Wai! I was so happy to see all of them, and they were really encouraging and gave me positive feedback which really made me smile. All my dance practice for the past year with Blast! definitely did not go to waste. Glad they enjoyed the show and the whole hiphop culture that Blast! want to spread to everyone!
And look who came today! Baoxin came all the way down to support me, Jamie and Ricky too! And we bumped into Joycelyn! Joycelyn is a pretty girl eh haha, our squash junior from RGS. And I love Baoxin and Jamie! I'm so touched that Baoxin came down to watch my performance though it's an NUS thing and Jamie too, who sounded so sincere when she told me I looked good during the performance and that I can dance! haha thanks babe for squeezing time off from work to come down to NUS on a Saturday night. All your support (thanks to Ricky too) is greatly appreciated by the very humble noob dancer, me.
Back for a long holiday from London, Chong Wai and Vivian! To think that I was just a plump, ugly-hair, ignorant, toot and 'angst' Sec 1 squasher when I got to know Chong Wai and the rest of the RI squash gang, including my dearest boyfriend of course haha. Now I'm all grown up and mature!
Jerry and Shirley, thanks so much to Shirley who had to rush down from the airport. They missed the first part of the performance, and missed my first item, but I do hope they enjoyed the later part of the concert.
William and Yanli! Both of whom I meet many times a week, especially Yanli in Chemical Engin who takes 3 modules with me this semester, such that I meet him in school almost everyday. William, funny, very deep at times and ask me such hard questions on life (hehe), right now, seeking for love.
My sister, Jacinta, who insisted on coming for the concert when her A Level prelims are just next week. Good ah, I like the confidence haha. She said the concert started off fine but got boring when it came to the 3rd item and then exciting again and then boring again. Said we did not have variety and there were a lot of repeated moves until she got bored, and said we should introduce other forms of dance like salsa or jazz in the concert because 2 hours of hiphop was too much. Jacinta's forever so critical. So I had to explain everything to her - that the students had limited experience in choreographing (no professional choreographers hired except for Pat) hence repeated moves in the dances and well, it's supposed to be a Blast! concert hence pure hiphop and no jazz or other forms of dances. Well next year's concert will be a combined effort from all NUS CFA dance groups so I shall invite her again! She'll even get to watch Chinese and Indian dance.
Roy and Mich! Arghh Roy always looks so tall. I'm wearing heels and I still look so short.
Yanrong and Janyce! The 2 busy doctors managed to squeeze some time out of their hectic schedule to come for the performance! Janyce was so supportive when I invited her to the concert! And she's got a new hairstyle! - chopped off her hair and got it straightened at the ends. Anyway they're a couple who's very much in love hehe, I wonder if Yanrong popped the question when they were touring Spain in June. How romantic! Janyce told me many nice things about Spain and I want to go too!
Tian's gang. The guys. haha. We're the girlfriends who got to know one another because of this gang of friends. Through many nights of board games and World Cup matches during the holidays.
Mich and I. You know when the dancers were backstage, everyone liked how I did my hair up for Idil's dance and many girls told me I looked very nice! But somehow Tian and Mich told me they preferred my hairstyle for my 2nd dance, curled, big and messy. But I liked my tied up and back-combed hair a lot! Thought it matches Idil's item costume, with the black corset and boots. =p
After all the photo-taking at UCC, Tian, Mich, Roy, Yanli, Yanrong, Janyce, William and I drove down to Chomp Chomp for supper! My first time at Chomp Chomp for supper, was there many times in the afternoon when it was closed so I ate elsewhere at Serangoon Gardens where I found very nice teh bing and hokkien noodles! Anyway that was a year ago when I was working. So yes Chomp Chomp was quite interesting, so many sugar cane drink stalls though the whole area was actually rather small to me (Newton seems bigger), and the guys met so many acquintances there. What a small world. We bought a lot of food to share and I was so full till I had to give my chicken wings to William.

We wondered why Mich leaned so close to William haha.
2am! Time to head home. I still have tuition lesson tomorrow morning at 9am before my last night of performance! haha insane.
My gorgeous bouquet lying on my very small study table. I love the variety of flowers though I can't name all of them. I don't know what the purple flowers are called, and those tall pink flowers sticking out..and I ought to do some publicity here. I have received 3 bouquets from Tian purchased from the Holland Village Shopping Centre florist (on your left when you walk down the road to Subway) and I have got to say that the 2 huge bouquets were really very well arranged and beautiful, and I'm always very impressed with the quality and variety of flowers they offer in the shop (hmm but Tian said the pink lilies were sold out that day..limited stock). Maybe there are better florists out there I don't know, but so far, my previous 2 bouquets really blew me away.

That night, and also the following night, Tian said some really sweet things to me which really blew me away and I was very touched by his sincerity. I'm glad you are proud of me dear, and I'm not going to stop my learning journey here. Though I've overcome my insecurity (and lack of confidence) to finally pursue dance, there are still so many things that I want to learn and be good at. I hope in time to come, I'll gradually accomplish them one by one - I'm certain that life will be more fulfilling this way rather than channelling all my time and energy on studies and results.
All in all, Day 2 was a Blast! I was definitely feeling much less nervous than the first night and I guess for me the highlight was dancing right in front of Tian for a minute or so. Because his seat was so good, I happened to be able to look straight into his eyes during a part of my first dance and I couldn't help but smiled back at him while I was dancing because he was right there, in front of me, grinning happily at me! And I wasn't supposed to smile during that dance because it was supposed to be cool and sensual =p. But it was a very nice moment for me. Good thing I wasn't distracted by Tian and did not forget my steps, or else it would have been embarrassing haha.
