9am - Off we go in Roy's car to the Changi Chapel and Museum.

Challenge 1 - Lilliput, Big Splash. Mich and I were up for this easy one..haha. This Lilliput place is really quite cute with all the miniature bridges and golf courses and trains..so colourful too. But I think it's for kids la..I wonder who will go all the way to East Coast to play mini golf. Well, I didn't know this place existed before today.

Challenge 2 - Labrador Park. I had this feeling that I've been to this park before, yet at the same time it seemed so foreign to me. The scenary was perfect, the sea, the grass and greens..a quiet park, nice place to hang out and enjoy the sun on a Saturday afternoon with your loved one.

We were given this bonus question of when the Dragon's Teeth Gate was blown up. Now what's the Dragon's Teeth Gate? Heh I didn't know the history behind it and Tian was the one who ran all the way to the 'gate' to search for the answer on the information board or sth so I didn't get to read the story about Zheng He and this 'gate'. Thing about this race is that it brought us to many places we would otherwise not have explored in Singapore, but because we were racing, we could not waste time enjoying the scenery and learning more about the history of Singapore from this places we visited.

At this challenge, first, one member (who was Tian) had to stick his hand into this bin of mealworms to find a number which would indicate which 'food' he has to eat. Thank god he didn't have to eat these live worms. Something dead or bolied or fried is way better than a live insect.

This is the 'extreme food' that my brave darling Tian had to eat. Some boiled cocoon or sth. He said he tasted like sour apple. Not too bad. Thing is the people from NUS at this station even picked up one to eat while Tian had to finish up his 'food'. Like huh, it's nothing to them la. Anyhow, I think this cocoon was better than the wasp that Christine voluntarily ate. Anyway it was supposed to be some Chinese herbal medicine and she's used to eating insects (don't ask me why) so she did it. Gross!!

Oh while Tian was eating the cocoons, Roy had to stick his hand into this covered box to feel for something and identify 'IT'. Very long, thin, it moves, I think it's quite obvious that it was a water snake. Haha I wouldn't have dared to stick my hand in. I'll just scream.

Challenge 3 - Stamford Tyres. This is an easy challenge which requires one to carry a tyre and complete this obstacle course. I think he had to complete a certain number of rounds and each subsequent round we complete will earn us 20 bonus points. Mich and I volunteered to step out of this challenge to allow the guys to complete more rounds for the team. We'll only slow the team down anyway. Oh girls get a lighter tyre. haha no kick eh. That's Tian doing his thing.

Challenge 4 - Jurong Frog Farm. Basically at least 2 team members had to complete at least 8 rounds in 3 minutes and then the more rounds you complete, the more bonus points the team will get. It's like a shuttle run relay but with a frog in your hand. Haha let's just say I really wanted to help because to run for 3 minutes is damn tiring and we could tell that they're getting tired already. I walked up to the start point and took a peep into the tub. I just couldn't bring myself to hold the frogs up. Seriously, they're bigger and fatter than they look in the guys' hands ok. I was trying to psycho myself to maybe touch them but arghhh they were sitting still there and staring back at me. I didn't do it. The feedback from the guys was that the frogs are softer than they thought, like a bag of water perhaps, and they were obedient. hahhaha. I regret not trying to even touch the frog. The challenge could have helped me become a more rugged girl. haiz! That's Roy with the froggie.

This was a shot taken in the car on the way to Lim Chu Kang where the frog farm is (haha Michelle, it's not near Jurong Bird Park, remember ah..). Mich and I were enjoying the clear skies and fluffy white clouds in the back seats while team leader Tian Loon navigates with the street directory and Roy drives on.

Wanling, Me and Mich at the last Challenge 6, the G-MAX. Wanling was one of the very brave ladies who did not even think twice about queuing up for the g-max. She's not even the least scared loh. Mich and I stayed out of this challenge though it was a perfect opportunity to take the ride at a very low price of $10 per person instead of $35 i think. I'm a coward I know..and I'm not proud of it. Sorry Tian. I'm just born with such little guts that I disgust myself too. Haiz very sad. I'm almost good at nothing, I feel so useless. I think Mich would have taken the ride if the guys and I had persuaded her more. She did well in Hong Kong the previous time we went there.

In case you were wondering, Challenge 5 was at Snow City where we had to endure the cold for about 5 minutes and go down the snow slide 2 times. Haha the snow slide was so fun!! though Mich and I were screaming away because it was quite fast and we were been spun around such that we landed on the bottom of the slide facing back. And we brought our own jackets from home (other teams didn't so there were enduring the cold in their thin T shirt) so Mich and I were doing fine other than our frozen hands because we had to touch the 'snow'. It can't beat Japan anyway, and it made me miss skiing in Japan so so much. I want to go back to Japan again!!!

The guys queuing up, their turn was up next.

Before take off. Waiting for the elastic straps to become taut before they're shoot up into the sky, like catapult.

First, they strap you tightly to your seat. Then they tilt you backwards such that you're looking up at the sky and anticipating the traumatic take-off. They said this is perhaps the worst part of the ride.

Up they go!

Tian and I. Tired but going strong. I'm so glad I spent this eventful day with him, and we both agreed that this is perhaps a once in a lifetime chance to do such a car rally in SIngapore (unless NUS Motoring Club organises this again next year!!). We ran and perspired like crazy, we were frantically calling everywhere up for addresses of places such as the Newater Plant in the 'east' which we did not manage to find in the end, we worked in a team and had strategies, and I got to know more places in Singapore. The participants agreed that the NUS Motoring Club did a good job at finding these locations.

Mich and I in the back seat. This was on the way to Joo Chiat to complete a questionnaire, our last location to go before we head back to NUS. We were starving but did not stop for lunch unlike some teams because we did not want to waste time. Not eating is the hardest thing to do in Joo Chiat. I never knew that place was a food haven. I had a very romantic idea when we were driving down the very long Joo Chiat Road in search for answers to some questions that we were given, that is strolling along Joo Chiat Road on a cool day, hand in hand with Tian, and trying all the food that we desire. Like a food trip, but very relaxed, just eat and eat and enjoy the ancient feel of the street with all the old shophouses.

The CBD area, though they're just buildings, I still think the scenary is nice. We drove on the CTE so many times la..too and fro..haha this race sucks petrol from your car by the way, but nvm, it was real fun and we're contributing to charity anyway!! You can already see the dark clouds in the picture..

Then it Poured. So heavily, that Mich and I were so worried for Roy, because it was impossible to see the road in front of him. It's scariest driving in heavy rain. Thank god we were on our way back to NUS already, so Roy could take his time, or else Mich and I would be screaming in the back seat with Roy driving fast in this rain. Oh did I mention the feeling of driving (or rather sitting in the car) in the rain is very shiok too because you feel so dry and protected from the downpour. =)

At the end of the race, waiting at the Science canteen for the buffet dinner and prize-giving ceremony. We were starving I tell you..the rain has stopped too. In the end, only Zhenjin's team won something, 5th prize in the inter-faculty category, and Wanling's team won something too, under the open category. Haiz too bad we didn't win anything, it was really hard to win actually, especially in the open category where there're more teams. But now we know how the race works and Mich and I have thought of a good strategy we can use for the next race so I really hope they'll organise the race again next year!!! Good job team!! I had a great time with you guys!! It's been quite a while since we met up and yay we had so much fun and drama packed in one day!! By the way our team name was 'Who Dey?!" haha, inspired by the winners in the last Amazing Race Team edition, remember their T-shirts?~!!
